In Fancy Pants by Cathy Marie Hake, Lady Sydney Hathwell finds herself in quite a pickle when she journeys to America from England to meet the man her father approved as a suitor before he died. Once she does she discovers that she could never marry the man, he doesn’t even call her by the right name! Remembering that she has an uncle in Texas, she decides to send a telegram and journey to meet her uncle, without letting her suitor where she has gone since he will not take no for an answer. Disguising herself as a boy she journeys to Gooding, Texas only to discover that her uncle is gone for a few weeks; she has to keep the disguise up until he gets back so she can let him know she is a girl.

A love interest, an angry suitor and a gaggle of man hungry girls make this book a fun read. Plus it’s great when a girl can fool a ranch full of men into believing she is one of them.
