Between Sundays
February 29th, 2008 . by LisaShe’s done it once again. Between Sundays by Karen Kingsbury is a wonderful book about God and how He can work in our lives if we let him. Just be sure and have the Kleenex handy…
Aaron Hill is a quarterback for the 49ers, who is shallow and likes to party. He’s made some choices in his life that he regrets and has trusted the wrong person. He’s starting to question some of those choices and wonders if he can ever forget the past.
Derrick Anderson is a veteran football player who has been brought to the 49ers to play his last season, but more importantly be a mentor to Aaron and some of the other guys. He made a promise to his dying son to win a Superbowl for him, and that promise is on his mind, but so is the spiritual condition of Aaron. He feels that God put him with the 49ers for more reasons than to win the Superbowl, and Aaron is one of those reasons. He’s also very committed to his work with foster children.
Megan Gunn is a hardworking foster mom who loves her “son” and loves God but doesn’t love church. She is very involved with helping at the Youth Center with the foster kids and is totally devoted to Cory, who was her friend’s son and is now her foster son.
Cory is the foster son of Megan and is convinced that Aaron Hill is his dad. His mom assured him of this and made him promise to keep it a secret, but then he gets the chance to meet Aaron.
This book is a story about forgiveness and is a perfect example of God’s grace because it doesn’t matter how bad our past is, God can take anyone and make him a new person. We all make mistakes, but with God’s forgiveness we can be made clean again.
