Hangman’s Curse
March 24th, 2008 . by LisaHangman’s Curse by Frank Peretti is the first book in The Veritas Project series. This is a series he has written for teens and tweens and since I have teens and tweens and I love his books, I wanted to see how the series was.
The book centers around the Springfields who are a family of four that travel and investigate not just the facts, but the truth behind the facts in mysterious circumstances. They are a Christian family who put God first and rely on him throughout their investigations.
In Hangman’s Curse, they go to a school in Washington where students are falling into comas and rumors of witches and a ghost are running rampant. Their job is to get to the bottom of all of the rumors and figure out what is going on. What they discover is that the students that are falling ill are bullying other students, mainly a group of “witches.” A mysterious hangman appears on the locker of each student that is targeted and then the ghost appears to be targeting students on his own.
I was pleased with the book and would encourage my kids to read this. It help m y attention as an adult and the Christian theme was not overbearing but was woven nicely throughout.
