The Trophy Wives Club
March 2nd, 2008 . by LisaThe Trophy Wives Club by Kristin Billerbeck is a book about divorce and finding out who you are and what you want. Haley is a mid twenties trophy wife who was married to Prince Charming at 20 and learns she’s been replaced when she comes home and finds her suitcases on the front porch and the locks changed. She has no where to go and soon realizes the friends she had aren’t her friends anymore. Her attorney gives her a flyer for The Trophy Wives Club, which is a group at his church and she decides to go to see if she can get some advice on how to make her soon to be ex pay for what he did. She gets $10,000 for every year she was married but feels that number is too low and wants revenge for what he did. Although she doesn’t much use for Jesus, she still finds herself going to the monthly pedicure sessions and getting closer to the women while having to deal with her self righteous attorney who looks down on divorced women. She finds a job, a place to live, and begins to get her life back in order; even begins to get over her ex and realizes God isn’t so bad after all.
This book was a great read. I laughed, cried and sympathized with Haley and the other women in the TWC and hope she has some follow up books for some of the other women in the group. Kristin Billerbeck has a great sense of humor and brings God down to the level of everyday people.
